Now that 2018 is almost upon us, it is time to give your house the attention that you’ve put off for a while. You can make small or major changes and get great payoff from those investments!
When deciding what to tackle in 2018, start with the rooms you spend the most time in. In the kitchen, look for open spaces where you can add additional storage. Open shelves can be quite attractive and can be added to an unclaimed wall. Adding a wine rack or painting your cabinets for a brand new look can make a big difference, too. Lastly, updating major appliances like your refrigerator, oven or dishwasher can modernize your kitchen. You can also update your smaller appliances like your microwave, coffee maker or toaster. Lastly, a cheap improvement can be as easy as a new backsplash that can be a doable DIY project.
Your neighbors will appreciate any change you make on the outside of your house as well! Updating your front door can change the look of your whole house. You can add greenery with potted plants near your garage or front door or look to add color to your beds through decorative trees, bushes or flowers. New exterior lighting can turn heads and be a welcomed sight from the dark.
Flooring has become easier with so many options available. There are many types of new wood flooring or laminate that looks nearly identical to hardwood floors. A wooden floor also should be polished every six-months to a year to restore the shine and appeal it once had.
Lastly, pick areas that have been neglected through the years. You can give your fireplace a facelift with a nice mantel or new tile. Look for new storage ideas in your entry areas with a bench, wall hooks or even lockers. Add crown molding to walls, doors or windows with an affordable update that will make old areas look new. Finally, don’t forget your bathrooms. New lighting fixtures or updating water faucets can make all the difference.
Whatever you do, just be sure to make 2018 a great year!
